Vinay Ahir

Vinay Ahir is a pioneering energy storage expert currently serving as Manager – BESS Analyst at IndiGrid, where he analyzes and implements grid-connected Battery Energy Storage Systems His career highlights include successfully deploying India’s first regulated utility-scale standalone BESS project at Kilokari BESS Pvt Ltd Delhi and managing a substantial project pipeline of 1.75 GWh. Vinay has developed computational tools that optimize BESS sizing and performance, significantly improving cost-effectiveness through data analytics. Previously at Reliance Industries Limited, he developed the company’s first Li-ion prismatic cells and contributed to Na-ion CAM manufacturing and Gigafactory setup planning.

At the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Vinay built parallel simulation applications for benchmarking supercomputers using advanced programming techniques. A graduate of IIT Bhubaneswar with a Bachelor’s in Metallurgy, he holds a patent for an innovative lithium-ion battery recycling process that enhances used cathode materials with minimal capacity loss. Vinay combines deep technical expertise in battery technologies with practical implementation experience, positioning him as a leading voice in India’s energy storage sector.
