The Energy Storage Summit India returns for its second edition, building on the success of its launch. As a key platform for advancing India's clean energy transition, the Summit positions the country as a global leader in the energy storage value chain.
Co-located with the Renewable Energy India Expo and The Battery Show India, this year's Summit features an expanded international lens, drawing speakers and experts from Europe, the USA, and Asia to share best practices, innovative technologies, and collaborative opportunities.
India's Energy Storage Market: Rapid Growth and Opportunity
The Indian market has seen remarkable expansion, with over 92 GWh of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in project pipelines. Battery storage tariffs have dropped by nearly 65% in the past three years, making storage solutions increasingly viable.
Government support through the Energy Storage Obligation (ESO), Viability Gap Funding (VGF) (INR 3,760 crore for 4,000 MWh), and Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme (INR 18,100 crore for ACC batteries) is driving both domestic manufacturing and large-scale deployment. The CEA projects a need for 74 GW/411.4 GWh of energy storage by 2031-2032, highlighting the scale of opportunity ahead.
