Co-located with the Renewable Energy India Expo and The Battery Show India, the Summit featured an expanded international lens, bringing together speakers and experts from Europe, the USA, and Asia to share best practices, innovative technologies, and collaborative opportunities.
India's Energy Storage Market: Rapid Growth and Opportunity
The Indian market had witnessed remarkable expansion, with over 92 GWh of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in project pipelines. Battery storage tariffs had dropped by nearly 65% over the preceding three years, making storage solutions increasingly viable.
Government support through the Energy Storage Obligation (ESO), Viability Gap Funding (VGF) (INR 3,760 crore for 4,000 MWh), and the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme (INR 18,100 crore for ACC batteries) was driving both domestic manufacturing and large-scale deployment. The CEA projected a need for 74 GW/411.4 GWh of energy storage by 2031–2032, highlighting the scale of the opportunity ahead.
