
Sanil C. Namboodiripad
Mr. Sanil C. Namboodiripad joined IndiGrid as Chief Operating Officer on May 26, 2025, and leads operations across the InvIT’s diverse asset base, including extra high voltage (EHV) transmission lines, substations, solar power plants, and battery energy storage systems (BESS) – spanning both operational and under-construction projects.
With over 35 years of extensive experience in the Indian power sector, Sanil has held leadership positions across generation and transmission domains, with deep expertise in O&M, asset management, and operational strategy. He began his career with NTPC, serving 18 years at key gas-based projects like Kawas and Dabhol. He then held senior roles at Reliance Power, Sterlite Power, and Adani Transmission, where he managed pan-India portfolios of EHV transmission assets, including 25 substations and over 11,000 circuit kms of transmission lines with HVDC systems.
Most recently, Sanil served as Managing Director at ONGC Tripura Power Company (OTPC), a joint venture of ONGC, GAIL, and the Government of Tripura. Under his leadership, OTPC not only operated a critical 726 MW combined cycle power plant but also diversified into wind and battery storage—developing a 200 MW wind project in Odisha and forming a JV to set up 250 MW/500 MWh BESS in Assam.
Sanil holds a B.Tech in Electrical & Electronics Engineering and an MBA in Finance. He is a Chartered Engineer, Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India), and a registered Independent Director, with global affiliations in engineering asset management.
