Dr. Thomas Abendroth

Dr. Thomas Abendroth received his doctorate in Manufacturing Engineering from TU Dresden. He initially worked on process and materials development for functional thin films and surfaces before shifting his focus to battery technology.

At Fraunhofer IWS, his research centers on manufacturing processes and cell development for next-generation battery technologies. His work includes dry coating (DRYtraec® technology) for LIBs, SSBs, LiS, and SIBs, development of next-generation battery cells such as sulfidic solid-state and lithium–sulfur cells, and pouch cell manufacturing for advanced battery systems.
